Milling around
Chadwick's Mill was built in the mid-1870s along the Colorado River west of Lometa by Henry A. Chadwick and his son, Milam Chadwick. After business became so brisk, customers often had to wait a day or more for their milling and ginning to be done. Thus, the area evolved into a popular gathering place for recreation and social events. Shad Hill will play the ghost of James Milam Chadwick, and Shawna Hill will be one of his dance partners of long ago in the upcoming production of "The Ghosts of Lampasas County," sponsored by the Lampasas County Historical Commission Oct. 23 at 7 p.m. at the courthouse. The public is invited to attend.
