TECH TAILGATE

The Highland Lakes Chapter of Texas Tech Alumni Association will sponsor a tailgate event four hours prior to the televised Texas Tech vs. Texas A&M game on Saturday. The event will be in the parking lot of the Frank Fickett Education Center, 806 Steve Hawkins Parkway, off U.S. Highway 281 in Marble Falls.

Alumni, students and potential students of Texas Tech, Texas A&M and Central Texas College are invited.

Attenders can bring their tailgate gear, including food, beverages, chairs and grills to cook before the game. The game will be televised in classrooms of the Frank Fickett Center.

GUN, KNIFE SHOW

The Oakalla Volunteer Fire Department will hold a gun, knife and antique show Oct. 20-21 at the Oakalla VFD.

The event is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Oct. 20 and for 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Oct. 21.

Items for sale will include antique guns and knives, coins, collectibles, western decor and hunting gear and equipment. All proceeds go to the Oakalla VFD. For more information, or to reserve a table, call 556-3996.

HORSESHOES

The Lampasas County Chamber of Commerce is hosting a horseshoe tournament in conjunction with the Historic Fire House Run Biker Rally on Oct. 20.

Registration is at 8 a.m. at the Country Inn. The cost is $10. The tournament will be held at the Hancock Park volleyball courts. The double-elimination tournament will feature cash prizes. There will also be a draw for a doubles tournament with cash prizes. For more information, call 556-5172 or 525-1628.

YOUTH SOCCER

The Tri-City Express girls' soccer teams were in action last weekend.

The U-19 team lost, 3-2, to the Hill Country Rattlers. For the Express, Lucy Wolfram scored on an assist from Kelsey Wilcox, and Angel Waters converted a direct kick.

The U-15 girls notched their first win of the season, blanking HSK Millennium, 2-0. Marissa Koch registered an unassisted tally, and Jodie Wilkinson scored on an assist from Dayna Noonan.

GOLF TOURNAMENTS

The Hamilton County Volunteer Fire Department has scheduled a golf tournament for Oct. 20 at Perry Country Club.

The four-person scramble is scheduled to start at 1 p.m. The cost is $25 per player. Prizes will be awarded for long drive and closest to the pin along with door prizes. HVFD is accepting prize contributions and sponsorships from local businesses and individuals. For more information, call Toby Logan at 386-3786 or Todd Jordan at 386-4888.

The Highland Lakes Family Crisis Center has scheduled its 24th annual golf tournament for Oct. 20 at Delaware Springs Golf Course in Burnet.

The four-person scramble is scheduled to start at 1 p.m. with a shotgun start. An awards ceremony is scheduled for 6 p.m. along with a fajita dinner and live auction. For more information, call 830-693-3656.

The Colorado River CattleWomen Moo-oonlight Madness golf tournament is scheduled for Oct. 20 at Hancock Park Golf Course.

Proceeds from the two-person scramble will be used for scholarships. The cost is $45 per person with a limit of 27 teams. Dinner will be served at 7 p.m., and the tournament will start at sunset.
