8th Blue volleyball wins tournament The Lampasas Middle School eighth-grade Blue volleyball team went 3-1 last week, including three straight wins to capture the Lampasas A Tournament title on Saturday. The Lady Badgers beat Copperas Cove Lee 25-6, 25-15. They followed that up with a 25-14, 25-18 win against Llano. In the championship match, they beat Brownwood 27-25, 25-19. "They had an awesome tournament," coach Beth Rutland said. "We are playing at a high level now and have improved tremendously in a few short weeks. This group has a never-say-die attitude which makes them fun to watch. "They keep the ball from hitting the floor and are really learning how to pass, set and hit." The team traveled to Austin Lake Travis on Monday and lost 25-17, 25-20. "The girls played their hearts out against a great Lake Travis team," Rutland said. "I couldn't have asked them to play any harder." * LMS 8th White captures consolation title: The eighth-grade White Team won two of its three matches on Saturday to capture the consolation title at the Lampasas A Tournament. They lost to Brownwood 25-8, 25-14. They rebounded to beat Marble Falls 21-25, 25-20, 15-12. In the consolation match, the Lady Badgers beat Copperas Cove Junior High 20-25, 25-9, 15-12. "The girls are learning new positions on offense and really succeeded at the A Tournament this weekend," Rutland said. "They served well and played together as a team." On Monday, the White lost at Lake Travis 25-6, 25-16. |
