8th Blue hammers Hill Country
Middle School Football

The Lampasas Middle School eighth-grade Blue Team completely dominated Austin Westlake feeder Hill Country Middle School, 29-0, on Tuesday.

"The boys played extremely well and were very poised," head coach Jim Burks said.

"Coming back from two straight losses is not easy, but the kids played very hard and with a lot of excitement."

The defense opened the scoring with a safety, setting the tone for its second shutout of the year.

Brandon Scott found the end zone twice. He scored on runs of 7 and 31 yards.

Trine Valles broke open the game right before the half, returning a punt 71 yards for a touchdown. Secody Howard threw a crushing block to spring Valles.

Bailey Millican closed out the scoring with an 8-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.

"This was a huge win for our program over one of the schools that feeds Austin Westlake," the coach said.
