'KEEP FIGHTING'
The match, originally scheduled to start at 7 p.m., has been moved to 5 p.m. to accommodate another Lake Travis activity. The Lady Badgers are coming off a 25-5, 25-12, 25-10 loss at Cedar Park Vista Ridge. Vista Ridge is ranked No. 9 in the Texas Girls Coaches Association poll. "We hung in there and made some adjustments that worked after the first game," said LHS head coach Tracey Myers. "But there's a reason Vista Ridge is ranked where they are." In the match, Myers toyed with the LHS lineup. She moved sophomore outside hitter Sarah Bishop to setter and sophomore setter Erin Laney to hitter. Bishop's soft hands have prompted Myers to look at her as a potential setter in the 6-2 next year. Playing alongside senior setter Allie Spivey, Bishop can learn the position in an attempt to be ready to split the setting duties with Laney next year. "Sarah did a great job out there," Myers said. "That move also allowed Erin to work on her hitting." Spivey finished with five assists and Bishop with four. Shay Norris, Spivey and Kassie Carpenter had a kill apiece. "Offensively, we had a tough night, but I thought our block really came along," Myers said. "We got our hands on a lot of balls, and I was really proud of that." After tonight's match, the Lady Badgers close the season with matches at Dripping Springs and Pflugerville Connally, on Tuesday and Friday, respectively. "I just want the girls to keep competing, to never give up," Myers said. "I want them to go out there and keep fighting because the season is not over." |
