Aycock named to Texas Legislative Council

Texas House Speaker Tom Craddick (R-Midland) has announced the appointment of Rep. Jimmie Don Aycock (R-Killeen) to the Texas Legislative Council.

"Rep. Aycock has distinguished himself this session as a serious and hard-working legislator," Craddick said. "I congratulate him on this appointment to this very important agency, and I know he will be an asset in its mission to serve our government and the people of Texas."

The Texas Legislative Council provides bill drafting, computing, research, publishing and document distribution services to the legislature and state agencies. The council also serves as an information resource for the citizens of Texas and others.

Under the guidance of a 14-member council, staff is organized into five major divisions: administration, document production, information systems, legal and research.

The council consists of the lieutenant governor and the speaker, who serve as joint chairman; six senators appointed by the lieutenant governor; chairman of the House Administration Committee; and five House members appointed by the speaker.

Aycock is serving his first term as representative for District 54, which includes Lampasas County. He is a member of the House Agriculture and Livestock Committee, the House Higher Education Committee and House Redistricting Committee.

His district office can be reached by calling 556- 8954, or at P.O. Box 751, Lampasas, TX 76550.
