Officials note recent arrests
      The following arrests have been reported by law enforcement officials. Oct. 9 -- Lemont Thomas Crawford, 35, of Killeen for evading arrest/detention. He posted bond the same day and was released from the Lampasas County Jail.

      Texas House Speaker Tom Craddick (R-Midland) has announced the appointment of Rep. Jimmie Don Aycock (R-Killeen) to the Texas Legislative Council. "Rep. Aycock has distinguished himself this session as a serious and hard-working legislator," Craddick said.

15-year jail sentence given
      A 15-year sentence in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice was handed down in the 27th District Courtroom of Judge Joe Carroll. Phillip Lee Burns, 34, was credited for 221 days served. He is charged with aggravated assault, serious bodily injury, deadly weapon.
