Pictured is Georgia Millican, wife of cowboy evangelist Leander Millican. Before he founded School Creek Baptist Church more than 125 years ago, Millican was a Lampasas County deputy sheriff. He went on to help establish many West Texas churches and the Paisano Baptist Encampment. Phyllis Poehlmann, a direct descendant of the Millicans, will portray the early-day preacher's wife at the upcoming "Ghosts of Lampasas County" presentation set Oct. 23 at 7 p.m. at the Lampasas County Courthouse. The event is sponsored by the Lampasas County Historical Commission. The public is invited to attend.
