Some boats find another berth as show sets sail from Lampasas

Lampasas Public Library Director Shanda Subia poses with the T.J. Mabrey sculpture on exhibit at the city facility.
If you weren't one of the 525- plus visitors who saw T.J. Mabrey's "The Boat Show" while it was on exhibit at 405 Pecan St., there are still chances to see them, as 10 of the marble sculptures will remain in Lampasas until early January.

Visitors are encouraged to stop by local businesses to see the sculptures until they travel with the rest of the show to the Temple Cultural Center for a reprise of The Boat Show.

Locations of temporary homes for Mrs. Mabrey's sculptures -- all in the downtown Lampasas area -- follow:

Attorney Robert Gradel, 107 E. Second St., "Cloud Gate with Boats."

Lampasas Public Library, 201 S. Main St., "Castellatus Carrier."

Bonilee Garrett, 305 E. Third St., "Roller Carrier."

City of Lampasas Administration Building, 312 E. Third St., "Life Boat."

My Girls, 415 E. Third St., "Pod Boat."

First Texas Bank, 501 E. Third St., "Story Boat."

First Texas Bank also has a marble boat on exhibit in its lobby, as shown by Clara Faught, left, and Diana Jackson.
Old Town Antiques, E. Third St., "Sky Fishing."

Edward Jones Investments, 401 S. Live Oak, "Serpent Boat."

Attorney Pat Cavness, 414 S. Live Oak, "Turret Carrier."

Attorneys Martin and Millican, Attorneys, 512 E. Fourth St., "Bed Boat with Cats" and "The Boat of Venus."

Mrs. Mabrey and Lampasas Association for the Arts, the sponsoring organization for the exhibition, thanked Amanda and Johnny Wade of Mesquite Creek for donating the Pecan Street facility for exhibiting the sculptures during the recent show.

Other thanks was given to volunteers Harrell Clary, Stephen Mabrey, Kathy Hen- schel, Beverly Wood, Sheryl Estes, Tina Matney, Carmel Leblanc, Diana Fisch, Chriss Echlin, Brian Hooks, Lea Patel, Sylvia Berry, Misti Harrell, LISD administration and school board, and LISD students, and Wes Walker and the staff of Texas Boat World.

A big thanks was expressed to those who visited and participated in the exhibition.
