Mr. Leggett

Funeral services for Michael Vincent Leggett of Palestine were Oct. 9, 2007, at Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home Chapel in Palestine. Burial followed at Land of Memory Cemetery.

Mr. Leggett died Oct. 5 at his residence. He was 51.

He was born Oct. 20, 1955, in Wharton. He graduated in 1974 from Lampasas High School and was a member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church of Lampasas.

Mr. Leggett moved to Palestine in 1998 and worked as a correctional officer for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Beto Unit.

Survivors include his mother, Joe Ann Leggett, of Palestine; sons, James Leggett, of Palestine, and B.J. Leggett, of Salt Lake City, Utah; a daughter, Kerri Leggett, of Salt Lake City; a brother, Scott Leggett, of Gainesville; a sister, Rachael Martin, of Palestine; and a grandson, Dominic Leggett, of Salt Lake City.

He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur H. Leggett.

The family requested memorials be made to the American Cancer Society or to St. Phillip's Episcopal Church Building Fund, 106 E. Crawford, Palestine, TX 75801.
