JV White gridders stop Burnet, 7-3
Sub-Varsity Football

Luis Capallera intercepted three passes, and the LHS junior varsity White defense held strong in a win against the Bulldogs on Thursday.

Burnet's only score came via field goal in the opening quarter after the first of two LHS goal-line stands.

Edward Grant scored the goahead touchdown on a 7-yard run that capped a 12-play, 90-yard fourth-quarter drive. Grant rushed for a team-high 74 yards. Brandon Abbott had an interception.

"Our defense won the game for us tonight," LHS coach Stephen Hermesmeyer said. "We had two goal-line stands inside the 5-yard line."

Burnet 9th 20, LHS 8: The Bulldogs led 6-0 at the half and put the game away with two secondhalf scores.

Ryan Peter scored on a 5-yard run for the Badgers.

LMS 7th A 8, Lake Travis 0: Jake Terry's 22-yard touchdown run was enough as the defense pitched a shutout.

Terry finished with 88 yards on 11 carries, and quarterback Mark Kehoe ran for a game-high 97 on 12 carries.

Cody Crowfoot led the defense with a forced fumble and a fumble recovery, and Terry jumped on a fumbled snap.

The shutout marked the second straight for the A Team. They blanked Burnet, 7-0, last week. Kehoe had a 12-yard scamper for the game's only score.

Lake Travis 7th 22, LMS 7th B 0: The Badgers' 7th B Team fell to 1-2 overall and 0-2 in district with its second straight loss.

The Badgers lost to Burnet, 19-0 last week.

Coach Aaron Knuckles said Caleb Ukle and Kramer Watson had strong defensive outings against Lake Travis, and linebackers Robert Hall and Ben Henderson stood out against Burnet.
