Historical event
At a crossroads in western Lampasas County, this church was once a landmark for the community of McCreaville. One of the community's most prominent and colorful citizens was Julia McCrea. Miss McCrea grew up to marry Cornelius McAnelly, thought to be the first Anglo child born in Lampasas County. Julia will be played by Janie Perkins at the upcoming production of "The Ghosts of Lampasas County," sponsored by the Lampasas County Historical Commission Oct. 23 at 7 p.m. at the courthouse. In period costume, Mrs. Perkins, one of 11 "ghosts," will read from an old McCrea letter that describes one of the family's encounters with Indians in the late 1800s.
