We're all human, make mistakes It really saddens me to see a man judged by what he has done. Dr. Patteson may be a doctor, but he is still just a human like you and I are. He has hurts and feelings just like we do, and he is entitled to mistakes like we are. Everyone, and I mean everyone, has some kind of a skeleton in their closet. How would you like your skeleton pulled out and examined under a fine microscope in the public eye? You wouldn't like it too much, would you? I imagine Dr. Patteson doesn't like it either. How would you like a very stressful job like the doctor's of dealing with everyone's problems, up early in the morning before sunrise, to bed after midnight, not to mention all the times he is on call and has to go whether he feels like it or not. I think you would take something also to keep you going. Who gave you the permission and the right to judge him and others? God sure didn't. It clearly states in the Bible, "Judge ye not lest ye be judged with the same measure." And also Jesus said, "Those of you without sin cast the first stone." Are you without sin? I thought not one of us are. You better be careful how you throw your stone if you live in a glass house. I was taught as a child, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." It was instilled into me, and I treat others as equal to me. No matter who they are. It makes me a better human being. Try helping the person in need instead of judging them. See how rewarding it makes you feel. Dr. Patteson, I hope you stay right there in Lampasas. You are entitled to mistakes just like the next person is. Another thing: I want the people of Lampasas to know that they have a precious jewel -- the free-flowing pool at Hancock Park. It has nice and really cool sulfur water that helps to heal you. Lampasas just needs to take care of it and appreciate just what they have. It is a good place to go on a hot day. We used to go there every day during the season as kids. I do not know why Lampasas wasted their money and built another public pool. They should have built a bowling alley, a picture show or a recreation center, something for the kids to go to. No wonder there is so much juvenile crime. There is nothing to do in Lampasas. When I was a kid living there, we had a bowling alley, the LeRoy Theater and the Circle drive-in picture show. We also had miniature golf for a while. Well, the bowling alley closed, the LeRoy burned to the ground, the Circle drive-in closed, and there is no sign of the miniature golf course that I can see. There is nothing for the kids to do. They have to travel to other towns for recreation, and it is the other towns that get Lampasans' tax money. You should build recreation for the kids instead of stupid things like extra swimming pools. Use your heads for something creative instead of just a hat rack. Eva Judith King Akins Gonzales |
