The Lampasas volleyball team couldn't carry the momentum of its sweep win over Marble Falls last Friday into Tuesday night's match against Pflugerville Hendrickson.

Hendrickson staved off a Game 2 rally by LHS to capture a 25-16, 25- 21, 25-12 win.

In the win against Marble Falls -- the first District 25-4A win for Lampasas in three seasons -- LHS head coach Tracey Myers made a rotation switch, which allowed Allie Spivey to set to Shay Norris. Norris had 10 kills in the win.

"I tried to do the same thing on Tuesday," Myers said. "But I think it confused the girls a little because they weren't quite sure where to be. I went back to our normal rotation in Game 2, and we played better. But the girls like the idea (of the rotation switch) and said they want to work on it in practice.

"That's the thing about this group: They're not afraid to work hard."

In the loss to Hendrickson, Erin Laney had a team-high five kills despite playing with an illness. Laney also contributed five assists.

Spivey had a team-high 10 assists and added three kills. Becca Hobbs and Norris had two kills apiece, and Sarah Bishop had two kills, an assist and a service ace.

The Lady Badgers (9-18 overall, 1-8 in district) close out their home slate at 7 p.m. tonight against Burnet. They are on the road for their final four district matches. They lost three games to one at Burnet on Sept. 11.

"Burnet's going to be ready for them," Myers said.

"I keep telling the girls that everyone in the district has seen how much they've improved this year, so nobody's going to overlook them anymore."
