Other results include Elisha Whisenhunt, 43rd; Maribel Reyes, 45th; Jeanette Rosales, 50th; Patricia Viera, 54; and Hannah Purser, 65th. A field of 77 runners participated. "It was very hot and our kids still ran well," said Coach Brandy Eckermann. "Our regional meet will be run on this same course, and their performance at the recent meet is very encouraging." Lucas Kemp and Junior Castruita also participated, taking 46th and 53rd places, respectively, from a field of 83 runners. In a meet Sept. 27 at Gatesville, all the girls improved their times from the San Antonio meet, said Eckermann. "This was a great meet for us. A couple of the girls improved by more than a minute." Eckermann said the team has been pushing harder in practice. "It really showed in their times," she added. Kemp was 54th, and Castruita took 64th at Gatesville. "Lucas improved his time by almost a minute. The boys are doing a good job." |
