Artist to appear at gallery on Saturday

Western artist Jack Terry will appear at Fourth Street Gallery on Saturday.
Painting is in Jack Terry's blood. Ranching is in his blood. When he combined the two to become one of the most exciting western artists working today, he was home.

On Saturday at 7 p.m., Lampasans will get the chance to meet Terry at Fourth Street Gallery on Courtyard Square. Light refreshments will be served. Terry will talk about his art and showcase three oil paintings, several prints and giclees, all to remain on display through Oct. 31.

Terry got his first taste of the painting life from his grandmother on his father's side. She painted Texas -- its people and places that made it special, and she taught her grandson to draw and paint. It wasn't long before Terry was winning awards at county fairs.

His grandfather on the other side of the family introduced Terry to ranching. The stories of his rides on the great cattle drives and his work as a cowboy and rancher captured

Terry's imagina tion. The tales fired the young artist's desire to paint these subjects and to work a ranch himself.

The artist and his wife, Mary, live in Georgetown and own a 250- acre ranch just north of the city. The raise cattle, horses and exotic deer.
