Col. Borgman
Graveside services are Oct. 4 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio. Col. Borgman was born in Pontiac, Mich., and grew up in the Midwest attending several schools. He graduated high school in Washington, Ill. Col. Borgman served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He graduated from Indiana University and held a civil engineering position in private industry. He then returned to the U.S. Army for the next 27 years. Col. Borgman received some of the nation's highest awards, including the Legion of Merit, Distinguished Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal and Purple Heart. After his military service career, he was associate director for the Robotics Group at the University of Texas at Austin for nearly eight years. He enjoyed traveling. Survivors include his wife of 24 years, Nancy, of Austin; sons, Douglas Borgman, of Austin, and John Dennis Borgman Jr., of Charlotte, N.C.; grandchildren, Patrik, Jamee and Maggie Borgman, all of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; a sister, Patricia Sandman Bunt, of Fort Wayne, Ind.; a sister-in-law, June Walker, of Abilene; a brother-in-law, Hubert Dunahoo, of Yuba City, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Col. Borgman was preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia Ransom Borgman. Visitation is Oct. 3 from 6-8 p.m. at Cook-Walden Funeral Home in Austin, which has charge of arrangements. Donations may be made to the American Heart Association in his memory. |
