Cattle Auction

The report from the Sept. 26 sale at Lampasas Cattle Auction is as follows.

Cattle and calves: Estimated receipts 897 compared to 1,033 last week and 1,040 last year. Feeder steers and heifers steady. Slaughter cows and bulls steady.

Bulk supply medium and large 1- 2 300 lb. to 750 lb. feeder steers and heifers. Feeder steers and heifers accounted for 75 percent and slaughter cows and bulls 25 percent of the run. In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately 60 percent of the run and heifers 40 percent. Steers and heifers over 600 lbs. totaled 25 percent.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 300-400 lb., $125-$137; 400-500 lb., $118-$130, few to $1.35; 500-600 lb., $105-$117; 600-700 lb $99-$111; 700-800 lb. yearlings, $95-$107; 800-900 lb. yearlings, $90-$104.

Medium and large frame 2, 300- 400 lb., $110-$120; 400-500 lb., $95-$108; 500-600 lb., $94-$105; 600-700 lb., $89-$100; 700-800 lb. yearlings, $86-$90.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 300-400 lb., $115- $124; 400-500 lb., $109-$121; 500- 600 lb., $100-$110; 600-700 lb., $97-$112; 700-800 lb. yearlings, $95-$101; 800-900 lb., $88-$95.

Medium and large frame 2, 400- 500 lb., $100-$109; 500-600 lb., $95-$102.

Slaughter cows: breakers, 75-80 percent lean, 1,200-1,600 lb. high dressing, $41-$43; boners, 80-85 percent lean, 1,200-1,600 lb., average dressing, $44-$53; boners, 80- 85 percent lean, 1,000-1,200 lb., average dressing, $43-$52.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1-2: 1,400-1,700 lb., $60; low dressing, 1,300-1,700 lb., $52-$57.

Replacement cows: medium and large 1-2, young to middle aged 1,000-1,200 lb. cows, 4 to 8 months bred, $52-$68.

Cow-calf pairs: medium and large 1-2, young to middle aged, 1,000 to 1,100 lb. cows w/100 to 200 lb. calves, $1,525 per pair.
