State jail sentences given
      In recent 27th District Court action with Judge Joe Carroll presiding, 21-year-old John Christian Wood was sentenced to four years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Institutional Division for indecency with a child, sexual contact.

Law officials note recent slate of arrests
      The following arrests have been reported by law enforcement officials. Sept. 26 -- Linda Shuey, 48, of Lampasas for assault causing bodily injury. As of press time Thursday morning, she remained in the Lampasas County Jail.

Herb/Art Fest booths available
      The Lampasas County Chamber of Commerce is seeking vendors and exhibitors to participate in the 13th annual Herb & Art Festival on Oct. 13. The event will begin at 9 a.m. on downtown Courtyard Square. Booths are $50 for a 10x10-foot space. Food booths are $80.
