Floral bow-tying demonstrated at recent garden club meeting
Browning Community Garden Club resumed regular monthly meetings when the group met recently at Clear Creek Baptist Church fellowship hall.
Sharron Van Weelden, a professional designer, demonstrated techniques of tying floral bows. She then showed their use in corsage design.
To open the business session, Connie Madison read "The Lord God Planted a Garden," by Dorothy Gurney.
The 2007-08 yearbooks were distributed. A contribution was made to Texas Garden Club's Presidents Book in honor of the president, Carolyn Huls.
Recent summer activities included the annual family dinner.
A brief theme study on the shrub, yellow elder, was presented by Doris Magnor. She also reviewed an article on invasive plants which appeared in the "National Gardener."
At the Oct. 16 meeting, set in the fellowship hall, Beate Pace, floral designer, will share ideas on fall arranging and decorating.
Meetings are open to anyone interested in learning more about gardening, landscape or design.
For more information or membership questions, phone Mrs. Magnor at (254) 547-5645 or Margaret Hoke at 547-2466.
