Resident donates property to Habitat for Humanity

Sheryl Estes of Lampasas recently donated land in Killeen to Habitat for Humanity. She is pictured with Gene Bauer, left, Fort Hood Area director for the organization, and Skip Cornutt, Habitat's vice president for the area.
A Lampasas woman recently contributed property to a Central Texas area ministry that builds homes for deserving individuals with limited financial resources.

Sheryl Estes donated a lot in Killeen. She formerly was employed with Land Exchange Abstract & Title Co.

Ms. Estes, Land Exchange owner Joe Carothers and former General Manager Margie Prentice each participated in Habitat's "Women's Build" -- a volunteer program to construct houses for residents in need of assistance.

"It takes all of us working together to create a special home built with love," Ms. Estes said. Construction of the new home could start as early as October, according to Habitat officials.

She thanked the city of Killeen and Habitat for Humanity "for giving me the opportunity to make someone smile" -- through the donation of land.
