      First, let me correct an error in last week's column. An observant reader called to let me know I had listed the wrong dates for the upcoming archery deer and turkey season. I stated the archery season opens Sept. 29 and ran through Oct. 2. The correct dates are Sept. 29 through Nov. 2.

Bulldawgs topple LHS tennis team
      The Lampasas tennis team took a break from District 25-4A play on Saturday to play host to a Copperas Cove team that blanked it 19-0 earlier this year. After losing early leads in a handful of matches, the overall result was similar as the Bulldawgs came away with an 18-1 win.

JV sweeps Gatesville
      Aston Murray and Zach Radenz hooked up twice on touchdown strikes as the Lampasas junior varsity White team slipped past Gatesville, 14-13, on the road Thursday. Murray completed 5 of 11 passes for 149 yards and two scores, with 134 of those yards on three receptions to Radenz.

XC competes at USTA
      The Lampasas varsity girls' and boys' cross country teams finished 14th out of 30 teams and 25th out of 33 teams, respectively, at the University of Texas- San Antonio Six Flags Invitational on Saturday. There were 255 girls and 267 boys competing at the varsity level.
