Boy Scouts submit letters for project

Editor's note: The following letters were submitted as part of a Boy Scout project.

Dear Editor,

I am a 13-year-old soccer player, and I think instead of buying more fields, just fix up the old ones. Fixing the fields can be like putting restrooms there instead of port-a-potties. Putting water fountains that work. Fixing the goalie nets would make it work better.

I'm saying that for new restrooms instead of port-apotties is because some people wet the seats, and who wants to sit on wet seats?

For the water fountains, it would help if we forget our water bottle, and we are really thirsty and don't want to drink from dirty non-working water fountains.

This is what I think would improve our soccer fields.

Dear Editor,

I'm a 12-year-old boy living on Highway 190. The sides of the roads are a terrible disgrace. From my house to the convenience store on one side of the road, I bet you could get more than 20 bags of trash. All that trash can hurt the environment. You cannot go an inch without seeing trash, literally.

I think that the people should put their trash in dumpsters, not in the grass. I think the Lampasas community volunteers should get out there and clean. Hey, someone's got to do it.

I think that nature should be kept, not ruined. Being a part of that community, I volunteer to help.
