SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT

The family of Ramona Mae Lopez is hosting the fifth annual Ramona Mae Lopez Benefit Softball Tournament Oct. 13 at the Kiwanis Youth Baseball Field in Hamilton. Starting time is 8 a.m.

The tournament assists families whose child has special needs. Proceeds will help offset medical expenses not covered by insurance.

Sponsored families this year are the Kanes from Killeen and the Dubcaks from Temple.

Raffle drawings will take place throughout the tournament.

Area businesses are welcome to donate items for the drawings. Donations of Gatorade, water, single-serving chips, candy bars and paper goods also are welcome.

Signup deadline is Oct. 10. Entry fee is $150 per co-ed team -- five male and five female players.

GOLF TOURNAMENTS

Hancock Park Golf Course is holding a three-person scramble on Sept. 29 with a scheduled tee-off time of 1 p.m.

The cost is $50 per person or $150 per team, and the proceeds will be used to repair damage the course has sustained because of heavy rains this summer.

Players 60 and older will play from the white tees; players younger than 60 from the blue tees; and female players from the red tees.

Cash prizes will be awarded. The entry fee includes an enchilada buffet at Medina's Parrilla. Entries are due Sept. 24.

Additional meal tickets are $10 and must be ordered by Sept. 24.

The Ninth Annual Republican Golf Tournament fund-raiser is scheduled for Oct. 6 at Hancock Park Golf Course.

The scramble format tournament will start with a continental breakfast at 7 a.m., with teeoff scheduled for 8 a.m. A hotdog lunch is scheduled for noon at the Pavilion, and a hole-in-one on a designated hole is worth $10,000. The price is $50 per player. For more information, call 556- 6624.

The Exchange Club of Copperas Cove is holding its Ninth Annual Golf Tournament Oct. 13 at Copperas Cove Golf Course.

Funds raised will go to youth scholarships, child abuse-prevention programs, seniors organizations and other community service programs.

The tournament is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start.

RODEO

The Texas Amateur Rodeo Association has scheduled its Fall PlayDay for Sept. 29 at C&H Arena in Bertram.

Books open at 9 a.m. and close for the first event at 10 a.m. Proof of negative coggins is required.

HUNTING

New Covenant Church is holding a Lampasas Hunting Celebration Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
