CTC lists non-credit courses The Central Texas College (CTC) Continuing Education Department offers an eclectic mix of non-credit courses this semester. Registration is underway now for the following classes. Car Maintenance Basics: Learn how to care for the interior and exterior of your car, check tire pressure and fluid levels. The class will also cover tips on using owner's manuals and an overview of collision insurance and repairs. Class meets Sept. 29, 9-11 a.m. Cost is $14. Cumbia and Bachata Dancing: Enjoy a musical mix of drums, accordion, guitar and brass as you learn the courtship dance of the cumbia and the popular new dance the bachata. Class meets Tuesdays and Thursdays, Oct. 2-11, 7-9 p.m. Cost is $31. Buying and Selling on e-Bay: Explore online buying and selling opportunities through a variety of websites. Learn how to evaluate potential profit and how to take steps to protect your transactions. Class meets Fridays, Oct. 5-12, 1-3 p.m. Cost is $33. Create Real Special Events: Put sizzle in your next event as the class discusses planning, pricing, return on investment, board responsibilities, committee responsibilities, public relations, booth sales, sponsorships, cross marketing and more. Class meets Saturdays, Oct. 13-27, 1-3:40 p.m. Cost is $41 plus $15 for the course handbook. Understanding Social Security: Get the facts behind Social Security such as the pros and cons of starting Social Security payments at age 62 (versus later), how to calculate the impact of that decision on your retirement and how drawing Social Security could impact your retirement if you are a government employee. Class is Oct. 13, 10 a.m. to noon. Cost is $14. Life Lessons for Teens (age 12 and older): Explore ways to enhance self-esteem and self-worth while focusing on personal and academic goals. Course topics include discovering who you are and what matters most, resolving inner conflict, choosing how to shape your life, planning for growth and achieving your dreams. Class meets Saturdays, Oct. 20- Nov. 17, 9 a.m. to noon. Cost is $34. Watercolor: You don't have to be an artist to take this class, just be open and willing to experiment. Class covers color theory, techniques and perspective. Class set Mondays, Oct. 22- Dec. 3, 6:30- 9 p.m. Cost is $37.
