90th birthday
Mary Gibbs, longtime Lampasas resident, celebrated her 90th birthday recently. She was born Aug. 2, 1917, in Wallis, and married Jack Gibbs of Burnet in 1940. They moved to Lampasas in 1958, and he died in 1995. The Gibbs family and friends celebrated her birthday at Inks Lake on Aug. 4, with cake, homemade ice cream, lots of food, birthday wishes and sharing family memories. Five of her six children were present: Jack Gibbs and wife, Georgie, and Mud Gibbs and wife, Chrisdean, all of Hempstead; Mike Gibbs and wife, Cecile, of San Antonio; Sandra Gonzalez of Lampasas; and Mary Ann Cox and husband, Johnny, of Stanton. Sam Gibbs and wife, Marvy, of Hawaii were unable to attend. Also present were 15 grandchildren and spouses and 14 great-grandchildren.
