New Covenant Church initiates hunting event Hunting brings numerous visitors -- and their dollars -- to Lampasas businesses every fall, but New Covenant Church wants to offer area vendors extra support. New Covenant's Lampasas Hunting Celebration, slated for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the church, will offer vendors a chance to display outdoor-related wares. The event developed out of the church's desire to "lift up and support" Lampasas businesses, organizer Barry Combs said. "Hunting is an integral part of the economy here," he said. Lampasas Chamber of Com- merce mailed invitations to hunting-related member businesses. Along with vendor displays, the event will feature a non-sanctioned 3D bow shoot, horse shoes, washer tossing, prizes, a taxidermy display and a free homemade meal starting at 11:30 a.m. The church is encouraging families, not just bowhunters, to attend, Combs said. New Covenant also invites outdoor enthusiasts to join one of the church's "focus groups," fellowship and Bible study groups organized around members' common interests, such as hunting or archery. |
