Eleanor Burns Trunk Show set for quilt enthusiasts Local quilters and those eager to learn will appreciate the Eleanor Burns Trunk Show coming to the Lampasas Senior Center on Sept. 22 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Renowned for her "Quilt in a Day" technique -- also the name of her first book -- the artisan is legendary for popularizing quilting. Her method revolutionized traditional quilting, bringing speed and ease to the art and opening it up to a broad audience. Angela McCorkle, founder and organizer of the Brownwood Quilt Show and owner of Quilts with a Heart, in Priddy, will host the trunk show. She will have fabric, fat quarters, books, quilting kits, jelly rolls and notions available for purchase. Highlight of the day will be Ms. McCorkle's demonstration of the Burns technique. She will have on exhibit four Burns quilts and offer a demonstration on how to make them from 11 a.m. to noon. Ms. McCorkle has been piecing quilts for 12 years and has been machine quilting for the public for six years. The program is free. Coffee and tea will be available, and donations are encouraged.
