LHS XC at Waco Midway
By JEREMY HEATH Staff Writer

After seeing their first meet action last week at the Temple Open, the Lampasas cross country teams are scheduled to compete at the Waco Midway Meet today.

LHS head coach Trent Lancaster was able to gauge his teams' strengths and weaknesses last week, and has some specific goals for today, particularly on the boys' side.

At Temple, Ryan Tedford finished 33rd, Andrew Griffin 37th, Brandon Willie 42nd and David Bloomfield 46th. Freshman Jonathan Lohmann placed fourth in the junior varsity meet and earned a chance to run with the varsity today.

"I'm looking for a fifth boy to step up and answer the challenge," Lancaster said. "Jonathan will run there this week. Hopefully, we will be a little more prepared to compete this week on all levels. Some of the kids had never competed in a meet before, and I think last week's experience will help them."

For the Lady Badgers, Courtney Carpenter and Molly Rogers finished 40th and 47th, respectively, out of 140 runners at the Temple meet. Freshman Bailey Chambers was called up to run with the varsity at the last minute and finished 83rd.

Note: The varsity cross country schedule underwent a major change on Tuesday. The District 25-4A meet, originally scheduled for Burnet, will be hosted by Lampasas on Oct. 22. The Badgers were already scheduled to play host to a middle school and high school meet on Oct. 12.
