Cattle Auction

The report from the Aug. 29 sale at Lampasas Cattle Auction is as follows.

Cattle and calves: Estimated receipts 898 compared to 987 last week and 1,121 last year. Feeder steers and heifers steady. Slaughter cows $3 to $5 lower. Bulls steady.

Bulk supply medium and large 1- 2 300 lb. to 750 lb. feeder steers and heifers. Feeder steers and heifers accounted for 70 percent and slaughter cows and bulls 30 percent of the run. In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately 50 percent of the run and heifers 50 percent. Steers and heifers over 600 lbs. totaled 25 percent.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, few 200-300 lb., $1.64- $1.72 cwt; 300-400 lb., $1.31-$143 cwt; 400-500 lb., $1.25-$1.38 cwt; 500-600 lb., $1.09-$1.19 cwt, individual to $1.23 cwt; 600-700 lb $1.06-$1.17 cwt; 700-800 lb. yearlings, $1.03-$1.12 cwt.

Medium and large frame 2, 300- 400 lb., $1.22-$1.30 cwt; 400-500 lb., $1.16-$1.24 cwt; 500-600 lb., $.97-$1.10 cwt; 600-700 lb., $1- $1.06 cwt; 700-800 lb. yearlings, $.88-$.96 cwt.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 300-400 lb., $1.22- $1.39 cwt; 400-500 lb., $1.14-$1.22 cwt; 500-600 lb., $1.11-$1.19 cwt, few to $1.25 cwt; 600-700 lb., $1.05-$1.10 cwt, individual to $1.15 cwt; 700-800 lb. yearlings, $.97-$1.01 cwt.

Medium and large frame 2, 200- 300 lb., $1.20-$1.29 cwt; 300-400 lb., $1.10-$1.20 cwt; 400-500 lb., $1.04-$1.14 cwt; 500-600 lb., $.98- $1.10 cwt; 600-700 lb., $.97-$1.04 cwt.

Slaughter cows: breakers, 75-80 percent lean, 1,200-1,600 lb. high dressing, $46-$49.50; boners, 80- 85 percent lean, 1,200-1,600 lb., average dressing, $50-$53, high dressing to $54; boners, 80-85 percent lean, 1,000-1,200 lb., average dressing, $50-$53; 85-90 percent, 1,200-1,600 lb., average dressing, $44-$48; lean, 85-90 percent, 1,000-1,200 lb., average dressing, $44-$48; lean, 85-90 percent, 800- 1,000 lb., low dressing, $38-$45.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1-2: 1,400-2,200 lb., $60-$69 cwt; low dressing, 900-1,200 lb., $48-$55 cwt.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1-2, young to middle aged 900-1,300 lb cows, 4- 8 months bred, $700-$1,020 hd.

Cow/calf pairs: Medium and large frame 1-2, young to middle aged 1,000-1,300 lb. cows with 100-250 lb. calves, $660-$770 per pair; aged, 1,000-1,300 lb. cows with 100-250 lb. calves, $660- $770 per pair; aged, 1,000-1,350 lb. cows with 100-300 lb calves, $820-$1,170 per pair.
