Lometa gets 2.5 inches of rainfall

Rains earlier this week came at just the right time for Lometa residents.

Travis Herring reported 2.5 inches of precipitation between Tuesday and Wednesday morning. The rain followed a .15-inch sprinkling Monday.

Herring had not received any rain in the previous five weeks.

"It's really going to green things up," he said.

Most ranchers were able to cut and bale hay while their crop remained dry.

"We had plenty of time to get everything in," Herring said.
