Lometa gets 2.5 inches of rainfall
      Rains earlier this week came at just the right time for Lometa residents. Travis Herring reported 2.5 inches of precipitation between Tuesday and Wednesday morning. The rain followed a .15-inch sprinkling Monday. Herring had not received any rain in the previous five weeks.

Phone scam uncovered
      Lometa residents are being cautioned about a telephone scam involving elderly residents in that community. City officials said the perpetrator is phoning residents and thanking them for past donations to a local charity, then requesting contributions this year.
