LHS cross country opens slate Saturday at Temple

Ryan Tedford
The Lampasas cross country team is scheduled to open its season Saturday at the Temple Invitational.

The meet opens an eight-date schedule that runs through Oct. 17 and is followed by the District 25- 4A Meet on Oct. 27. The Region 4- 4A Meet is scheduled for Nov. 3 in San Antonio.

Three LHS runners advanced to the regional meet last year, but Wesley Fisher and Connie Rosado graduated, leaving Ryan Tedford as the lone remaining qualifier.

Head coach Trent Lancaster is looking to Andrew Griffin, Todd Young and Brandon Wiley to join Tedford for a deep boys' squad. He expects Courtney Carpenter, Molly Rogers and Bethany Rice to lead the girls' team.

"Our weakness is that we have no apparent individual state qualifiers, but our strength is that we might be more competitive (as a team) than last year," Lancaster said.
