Badger tennis team rains down on Shoemaker, 16-3

Alex Miller
After rain and lightning delayed the match almost an hour, the Lampasas tennis team knocked off Killeen Shoemaker, 16-3, Tuesday at Badger Courts.

LHS won six-of-seven doubles matches, swept the girls' singles slate and dropped just two boys' singles matches.

"Abby Peterson played well in the No. 1 spot," LHS head coach Kenneth Peiser said. "She was aggressive and consistent.

"Alex Miller won her first singles match as a No. 2. She played with calmness and thought about her shots. Caleb Wales played well and was swinging through his shots, Amy Johnson had a strong match, and Dustin Hause served really well."

Peiser said the difference between the team's performance on Tuesday and in losing twoof three matches during the weekend was that his players were aggressive and proactive.

"I wanted all the players coming to the net and attacking with volleys," he said. "Most everyone kept it up throughout the day. Zach McKenzie, Ciara Salazar and Laura Terrazas all came to the net well and showed tremendous improvement."

LHS is scheduled to play at Pflugerville High School today at 4 p.m.
