Oak wilt cost-share program available to stop its spread

Texas A&M Forest Service is offering cost shares for Texas landowners to suppress the spread of oak wilt through the Texas Oak Wilt Suppression Program.Eligible oak wilt suppression practices through this program include trenching or removal of infected red oak trees.

In the June 10 edition of the Dispatch Record, information provided to the newspaper about the location of the upcoming Lometa Lions Club ceremony to honor a Lometa ISD teacher was incorrect.The ceremony is scheduled for June 17 at 7:15 p.m. at the Lometa Church of Christ annex building.

The 1,000th Lampasas County child signs up for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library

The Lampasas Public Library celebrated its 1000th signee for the local Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library program with a party on Monday.The program, which came to Lampasas in 2021, provides a free book each month to children until they reach the age of 5.

With a 15-year writing career and 51 books under her belt, Vannetta Chapman says she’s diving into new waters.The Lampasas writer hit the New York Times Best Sellers list in April with the book, “An Amish Widow’s New Love,” published through Love Inspired, an imprint of Harlequin Enterprises.

County Fair to be held July 9-11 during Spring Ho festivities
