The Aug. 9 American Red Cross Community Blood Drive netted 47 units, according to drive coordinator Wanda Lang. Those units have the potential to help 141 lives, she said.

Chamber to host annual Lampasas County Wine Tour

The Lampasas County Chamber of Commerce & Visitor Center will host the Lampasas County Wine Tour on Oct. 1. The tour will feature stops and tastings at several area wineries. This marks the 11th annual event offered by the chamber.

Browning Garden Club to hold membership drive

The Browning Community Garden Club will hold its annual membership drive on Aug. 16 at 11 a.m. at Monty’s Steaks Brew and BBQ, 302 S. First St. in Copperas Cove. Membership is open to all. Guests are welcome. The club serves primarily the Kempner, Copperas Cove and Lampasas areas.

Sunday event to benefit LHS graduate battling leukemia

DISPATCH RECORD Lampasas High School graduate Michael Neary recently was diagnosed with leukemia. A fundraiser in his honor will be hosted Sunday at the high school track from 6-8 p.m. Neary graduated in May as the number-three academic student in the Class of 2022.

LHS automotive tech student recognized in industry

Recent Lampasas High School graduate Nathan Abken has personalized automaker Toyoto’s slogan of “Let’s go places.” Abken has taken his skills straight to the Toyota Service Center in Round Rock where he is on a fast track pursuing his career goal in the automotive industry.
