From 1972 to 2016, Janie Brown Perkins was a staple around town, especially during the annual Spring Ho festival.
Each year during the parade, donned in costume and alongside her “man,” Perkins would ride her decorated bike, waving to the crowd. Perkins was named a parade ambassador in 2005, and she remained a huge contributor to the event.
