Poppy Day to recognize the fallen military

Each year on the last Friday of May, the American Legion Auxiliary units throughout the U.S provide red poppies to wear to honor the fallen soldiers who have given their lives during battle.

This ritual began at the end of World War I. Some of the first soldiers lost their lives and were buried in Flanders, Belgium, at a site where abundant poppies grew.
