In an incident that authorities said might otherwise have ended as a “suicide by cop,” police convinced an armed and barricaded driver to exit his vehicle after a pursuit that began in Mason County ended in Lampasas on Sunday morning.

Lampasas County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a 57-year-old man after his stepson reportedly shot him in a domestic dispute. LCSO deputies responded to the 2100 block of County Road 3790 to a report of a shooting on Thursday afternoon at 1:34 p.m.

Lampasas County Sheriff Jess Ramos confirmed there is an active homicide investigation taking place in Kempner as of Wednesday. Kempner Police Department is the primary investigating authority, but Ramos said his office and the Texas Rangers are assisting in the investigation.

Lampasas County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a Kempner homicide, and the suspect in custody is the son of the deceased. Myer Nena, 61, died after sustaining injury in an alleged domestic violence incident on Friday.

Kempner man arrested on murder charge following fatal shooting

A Kempner man was arrested on a murder charge following a fatal shooting on Friday. Michael Oran Woods, 43, was arrested at a home in the 1500 block of County Road 3340 where police said he admitted to shooting his friend from behind.
