Basketball finishes up spring season

The Badger basketball team finished its spring league action Monday night with two wins.Lampasas beat Lago Vista 48-35 in game one and then beat Gatesville 46-40.The Badgers had only six players available, and they rotated the one person off the bench throughout the night.

Lampasas to host multiple sports camps over the summer

Summer sports camps started this week, and camp offerings will continue next week and on into July.The youth football camp took place this week Monday through Wednesday, and next week tennis camp will get underway.TENNIS CAMPTennis camp will run from 8-9 a.m.

Hornet tennis players qualify for state tournament

The Lometa tennis team competed at the regional tournament last week and emerged with a regional champion and a regional runnerup, as three different players will advance to state.Ivan Oliver won the regional tournament after entering as the number-two seed.

Doubles teams compete well at regional tennis

Two separate doubles teams traveled to Bryan for the regional tennis tournament last week.Lampasas took one mixed doubles and one girls’ team.In mixed doubles, Clyde Ashfield/Caroline White had won the district title and earned five tournament wins this season with a 25-8 record.

Basketball team splits games in second week of spring season

The Badger basketball team played games against Jarrell and Gatesville on Monday night in the high school gym.In game one, the Badgers dominated Jarrell 61-32.Beau Patterson led the way with 26 points, while Aidan Nuckles scored 11.

Badger golfer competes at state tournament

A Lampasas High School golfer finished his career with a trip to the state tournament earlier this week.Senior Riley Oestreich qualified as an individual for the state competition after his performance at regionals, where he won a playoff to sneak into the final qualifying places.

Lampasas to host youth football camp next week

The annual youth football camp for those students currently in first through fifth grades will be held May 12-14 at Badger Field.The camp will run from 4-6 p.m. each of the three days.Cost of the camp is $35 and can be paid online only.

The former athletic director and head football coach at Lometa has been reassigned to another position at the Lometa campus after the school board directed the superintendent to move in a different direction with his position.
