Lampasas tennis beats Leander in close battle

The Badger tennis team dealt with a short weather delay, then picked up a 10-9 win over stiff competition.The Lampasas team had its last two Tuesday matches canceled because of rain, so players really needed to get some action in this time.

Final scrimmage complete; regular season up next

The final tune-up for the regular season is behind the Lampasas Badgers, as they scrimmaged China Spring on the road last Thursday night.The two teams followed a similar script to what was used for the Badgers’ scrimmage against Gatesville the week before.

High school state championships now a sports masterpiece

The high school football state championships have become one of my favorite sporting events of the year at any level since they began being played at Jerry World -- the Dallas Cowboys stadium -- and are televised.The first time the games were played at that venue was in 2009.

Volleyball team comes up short against Brownwood

On Tuesday, the Lady Badger volleyball team traveled to Brownwood for a match against the Lady Lions.The varsity started slowly then competed better down the stretch, but ultimately Lampasas lost 9-25, 21-25, 19-25.Brownwood undoubtedly is a tough program.

Tennis match canceled because of weather

Sydney Unger was in the middle of her match on Tuesday afternoon against Stoney Point when a delay was called because of lightning in the area. The match was eventually canceled.

Volleyball team plays in first tournament in Llano

Last Thursday, Friday and Saturday, the Lady Badger varsity and junior varsity volleyball teams played in their first tournament of the season in Llano.

Tennis team picks up big win over Pflugerville

The Lampasas tennis team dominated Pflugerville High last week in a tennis match, winning 19-0.According to head coach Kenneth Peiser, Pflugerville graduated all but two players from the team last year, and the players aren’t as strong as they have been in the past.

Cross country team opens season in Temple

The beginning of the 2025 cross country season took off from the starting line at the Temple Invitational last Friday morning.The Lampasas varsity boys’ team placed fifth out of 38 teams overall and second in the 1A-4A division.“This is huge for our first meet,” new head coach Kim Burnside said.

Scrimmage against Gatesville kicks off the season

Last Friday, the Badgers played host to the Gatesville Hornets for the first scrimmage of the season as they prepare for the first game of the year later this month.During the scrimmage, the teams alternated running a specific number of plays, regardless of the outcomes of those drives.

Badgers see first football action of the season last Saturday

The blue and white scrimmage is a fun annual event where the Badger football team puts the pads on for the first time and tackles one another.A decent crowd was on hand for the event last Saturday at the high school field. Fans got to watch their team compete on both sides of the ball.
