Tennis courts get new surface

The tennis courts at Lampasas High School have been resurfaced, and the middle school courts are next up. As of Wednesday morning, the new courts at the high school seemed nearly complete, and the work should be done Thursday.

SWAT offseason work underway for Badgers

Middle school and high school Badger athletes were out early last Thursday morning for the beginning of SWAT, the Badgers’ annual offseason workout program.

Riders start on annual Texas 4000 trip to Alaska

The 70-day trip through America, into Canada and all the way to Alaska is underway after the Texas 4000 riders left from the Stoneledge Winery in Lometa on Saturday.

Badger golf coach defends title at annual Memorial Day tournament

The A.C. January Memorial Golf Tournament took place last weekend at the Hancock Park Golf Course. Justin Schulze once again came away with the win in the championship flight after shooting 63-70-70-203 over the three-day event.

ATLAS 4000 ride taking off from Lometa on Saturday

The annual ATLAS 4000 bike ride will start around 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Stoneledge Winery in Lometa. The 4,000-plus-mile bike trek to Anchorage, Alaska has not been held in its entirety the last two years because of COVID-19 restrictions in 2020 and 2021.

Two Badgers nominated for area player of the year awards

Two former Badger athletes are nominated for Austin-area high school player of the year awards. Case Brister has been nominated in back-toback years, this time for offensive player of the year because of his performance at running back in his senior campaign.

Badgers and Lady Badgers to start summer basketball next week

The Badger and Lady Badger basketball teams will spend June playing in a summer league that begins next Monday and Tuesday. The Badgers will play their first games on Tuesday against San Saba at 5 p.m. in the Lampasas High School gym and against Burnet at 7 p.m.

Lampasas graduate headed to College National Finals Rodeo

A 2020 graduate of Lampasas High School is headed to Wyoming next month for the College National Finals Rodeo. Victoria Procter, a sophomore at Texas A&M University, finished second in barrel racing in the Southern Region of the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association.

Annual A.C. January Memorial Day tournament to feature 192 golfers

It is time for the annual A.C. January Memorial Day Golf Tournament at Hancock Park Golf Course in Lampasas. The tournament will feature 192 golfers, separated into 12 flights based on skill level, competing in individual stroke play over Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
