580 Sports Park closes briefly after damage sustained to playing field

The city of Lampasas announced on Thursday that it was closing the 580 Sports Complex for the indefinite future due to damage suffered during the recent winter storm.After several days of closure, the city announced in a Facebook post Monday morning that the park has been reopened for public use.

One Lampasas wrestler won the district title for his weight class at the district tournament last weekend, and two Lady Badger wrestlers qualified for the regional tournament next week.Kaiden Fernandez finished with a gold medal around his neck following the district wrestling tournament.

Football, basketball and volleyball all in new regions after UIL realignment

Lampasas sports saw quite a bit of shakeup in some ways, as the new UIL regions and district alignments for 2026-2028 were announced on Monday morning.Football, volleyball and basketball all will be competing in new regions, as football moved from Region I to Region III.
