Mrs. Laifer

Renee Brown Laifer, 86, died July 17, 2022 in New Braunfels, where she had moved from Syracuse, New York to be near family.

Services will be held July 22 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio at 10:45 a.m. Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel in Lampasas has charge of arrangements.

She was born on Jan. 20, 1936, in Brooklyn, New York, to Henry and Tilley Rosenblatt Brown.

She grew up in Brooklyn and graduated from New Utrecht High School in 1953 where she played in the band and was on the school yearbook committee.

She married Frank Laifer on Dec. 26, 1955 in Brooklyn. He was an Air Force officer, and his career took them to various bases during her lifetime.

Mrs. Laifer spent much of her time volunteering at various service organizations, including the Red Cross and Family Services. She loved to read, play Maj Jong and Bingo.

She was preceded in death by a twin brother and sister.

Survivors include her husband of 66 years, who resides in New Braunfels; four children, Martin Laifer of Savannah, Georgia, Sharon Laifer Ross and husband Mike of New Braunfels, Lisa Carnley of Lampasas and Stephen Laifer of Rochester, New York; two grandsons, Jason and wife Kelsie Carnley of Seguin, and Zach and wife Courtney Carnley of Lampasas; six greatgrandchildren, Landon Carnley, Myles Carnley, Owen Carnley, Beckett Carnley, Chandler Carnley and Hadley Carnley; and several cousins.
