Waunita Alene Johnston, 92, died peacefully on May 12, 2026.
She was born on June 12, 1933, to William Balster and Georgia Gunn.
Waunita had made Lampasas County her home since 1971. Over the years, she built a life centered around family, love and the simple joys that brought beauty and warmth to those around her. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking, crafting and doing ceramics, and she shared her creativity and care through the many things she made.
Waunita will be remembered for her loving spirit, creativity and devotion for God and her family. Her life was a blessing to those who knew her.
She is survived by her son, Steven Johnston of Kempner; daughter, Talhia Rasberry and husband, Travis, of Hooks, and daughter, Khila Lemons of Kempner; grandchildren Lode Rasberry, Shawn Rasberry and Brodie Lemons; greatgrandchildren Kaitlyn Beaver, Jordan Stephens, Avery Schichlt, Thomas Schichlt, Kiiya Carlson and husband Nicholas, Carver Rasberry, Koda Stone and wife Daniele, and Andrew Lode Rasberry; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Waunita was preceded in death by her spouse, Roland L. Johnston; one granddaughter, Tamra Stone; one greatgrandchild, Taunton Stone; and two sisters.
Visitation will be held May 18 from 5-7 p.m. at Fulton Family Funeral Home in Lampasas. A burial service will take place at a later date in Nebraska.
