Johnnie Kenan Wilson, 97, died on Sept. 2, 2022, at River Ridge Nursing Home in Corpus Christi.

Graveside services will be held at Naruna Cemetery on Sept. 10 at 10 a.m. The family will greet friends and relatives at 9 a.m. before the service.

Johnnie was born on Oct. 19, 1924, in Burnet County to Milton and Alice McCoy Kenan.

Johnnie grew up in Lake Victor and graduated from Lampasas High School. After high school, she worked for Cass Drug Store.

Johnnie married Stanley McCall Wilson in 1946, and they moved to Corpus Christi at that time. They served at Second Baptist Church and then West Heights Baptist Church. Upon retirement, they moved to Naruna, where they joined Naruna Baptist Church. They were married for 72 years.

Johnnie filled her time as an at-home mom for her two children, Ken and Lindy. She was involved in their lives as mother, seamstress and chauffeur. She later became an avid quilter.

Johnnie was preceded in death by her husband and her brothers, Alton Kenan and James Kenan.

Survivors include her children Ken (Janis) Wilson of Corpus Christi and Lindy (Larry) Wilson of Orange Grove; grandchildren Kenan Wilson and Nikki Wilson, both of Corpus Christi; six great-grandchildren and nine great-greatgrandchildren.

Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
