Mr. Kelley

Ray Kelley, 89, of Lampasas died on Aug. 28, 2022 in Georgetown.

Visitation will be held at Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel in Lampasas on Sept. 4 from 5-7 p.m.

Funeral services will be on Sept. 5 at Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel at 11 a.m., followed by interment at Mt. Moriah Cemetery in Briggs.

Ray was born on Sept. 9, 1932 in Briggs to Horace Lee Kelley and Clara Elizabeth Gray Kelley. He grew up in Burnet and Williamson counties and moved to Lampasas in 1951.

Most of his working career was spent with the Civil Service at Fort Hood, where he worked for 41 years.

After that, he worked on his ranch, working cattle and producing hay. Ray raised show steers and bulls, and was very involved in stock shows with his children, taking them all over Texas. Ray had an integral role in starting the Lampasas County Youth Livestock Show auction in the early 1970s with Luis Canales. He also enjoyed raising and training horses.

Ray was preceded in death by his wife, Ima Kelley in 2004; son-in-law, Robert J. Ziminskas; and five siblings.

Survivors include his son, Jim Kelley, and wife, Sheryl; daughter, Trish Ziminskas; sister, Dorothy Everett; grandchildren John Eric Ziminskas, Perry Ray Kelley and James Ryan Ziminskas; and great-grandchildren Preslee Kelley, Clara Elizabeth Ziminskas, John Andrew Ziminskas, James Ryan Ziminskas II and Robert John Ziminskas II.
