Cross country runners take off from Cedar Park for their second race this season

The Lampasas cross country teams traveled to Cedar Park this morning to compete in their second race of the season.

The boys’ team placed third out of 20 teams, behind only Burnet and Port Aransas. Three Lampasas runners medaled as individuals. Brayden Phillips placed third, Kent Ashley finished fifth, and John Keyes came in 10th.

The girls’ team placed sixth overall with Mackenzie Shaughnessy medaling in sixth place as an individual. Leah Phillips and Hailey Palmer also were in the top 20.

“It was very hot and humid, but both teams ran and finished really strong,” head coach Connie Hand said. “We are training through the meets, and we were proud of them.”

The next meet for Lampasas runners will be Friday in Temple at the Profit Invitational.
