Marjorie “Elaine” Jackson Owens died on July 25, 2024, in Lampasas at the age of 82.
She was born on March 4, 1942, in Lamesa to Raymond and Clara Jackson of Big Spring.
Elaine married Jackie Wayne Owens on June 3, 1960, at Westside Baptist Church in Big Spring. He preceded her in death.
Elaine is survived by her children Kenneth Wayne Owens, Carrie Owens Hyatt and husband Glenn, and son-in-law Michael King, all of Lampasas.
She was preceded in death by her son, Rodney Paul Owens, and her daughter, Tobi Owens King.
Elaine was a devoted grandmother, known as Nannie, to Sarah Beth Hall and husband Michael, Bailey Hyatt, Jackie Hyatt, Maci Maldonado and husband Wren, Ritter Jack King, and Ridley Owen King, all of Lampasas; and a greatgrandmother to Paisley Denise Wiles, Jordon Maldonado, and Reagan Levi Ervin, who preceded her in death. She also was preceded in death by her sister, Norma Sunday, and husband Monroe of Big Spring.
Other survivors include her sister Daphna Smith and husband Randy of Terrell.
Elaine enjoyed bowling with her mom and sisters, cooking, and loved music, especially Elvis Presley and the gospel music of the Gaithers.
She cared for nieces and nephews while young family members were working. She was always encouraging and loving on others unconditionally. She gave back to the ladies of Alpha Beta Omicron Society in Sand Springs, and her talents turned into hobbies that were just as sweet as she was.
Elaine enjoyed baking, making fudge and other candies, always seeking to bring joy to others. She sought to show unconditional love, kindness and devotion to each person she knew and loved.
Visitation will be held at Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel on Aug. 2 from 6-8 p.m.
A service to celebrate Elaine’s life will be held Aug. 3 at 11 a.m. at Grace Fellowship Church.
Burial will take place Aug. 7 at 11 a.m. at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen.
