Mrs. Haynie

Carolyn Jean Fisk Haynie, 85, died on July 22, 2024, at Ascension Seton Williamson Hospital in Round Rock.

Funeral services will be held at Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel in Lampasas on Aug. 2 at 11 a.m., with visitation an hour prior. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Carolyn was born on Nov. 18, 1938, in McGregor to Wilburn and V.O. Reynolds Fisk. She grew up in McGregor.

She attended McGregor High School and was on the cheerleading squad and a class officer.

Carolyn met her true love and married Walter Y. Haynie on Aug. 10, 1956, before she began her senior year in high school. She went on to graduate with her class in 1957. The couple were married for 66 years and welcomed their first child, Walter Barry in 1958, then Cara Lee in 1959, Carla Lynn in 1961 and Michael Bryan in 1968.

After high school, Carolyn attended cosmetology school and worked as a hairstylist in Lampasas. She later began a career as a paraprofessional for 25 years, working at Lampasas ISD, Flour Bluff ISD in Corpus Christi and finishing her career at Hays CISD in Kyle, where she retired.

Carolyn was a Christian by faith and a member of First Street Church of Christ in Lampasas, Windsor Park Church of Christ in Corpus Christi and Georgetown Church of Christ in Georgetown.

She was preceded in death by her husband and her daughter, Carla Haynie Shaffer.

Carolyn is survived by her son Barry (Lisa) Haynie of Cibolo; daughter Cara Haynie-Pena of Corpus Christi; son Bryan (Vickie) Haynie of Agua Dulce; grandchildren Roman (Keisha) Brown, Jennifer (Gabriel) Dunford, Reilly Shaffer, Taylor (Jacob) Evans, Alex Pena, Sarah Haynie and Jordan Haynie; great-grandchildren Michael Brown, Isabella Brown, Annabelle Dunford, Bennett Dunford, Amelia Dunford and Rhys Dunford; her brother, Douglas (Sally) Fisk of Graham; nephews Brad Fisk and David Fisk; a niece, Staci Fisk; and a great-nephew, John Upton.
